’3,’ OH ’3′: Check out yesterday’s Chart Beat for the many highlights of Britney Spears‘ Billboard Hot 100 coronation with “3.”

Perhaps no one is more excited about the achievement than Spears herself. In the wake of her ascension to No. 1, Spears tweeted the following:

“I want to thank my fans for making ’3′ the # 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. I am truly blessed with the greatest fans in the world.”

MICHAEL, PART 1: After a visit to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on the album’s release date (Oct. 9), Michael Buble notches his second No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as “Crazy Love” opens at the summit. The crooner first led with “Call Me Irresponsible” in May 2007.

Adult entertainment is the new trend atop the Billboard 200. Last week, Barbra Streisand bowed on the latter list with “Love Is the Answer” (which this week dips to No. 4). Since the Billboard 200 converted to Nielsen SoundScan point-of-sale data in 1991, not until this week had the chart sported back-to-back debuts by acts likely to receive airplay for their new music exclusively at the adult contemporary format.

“Haven’t Met You Yet,” the lead single from Buble’s new set, bullets at No. 8 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

MICHAEL, PART 2: As previously reported, for the second time since his passing, Michael Jackson has taken radio by storm.

The King of Pop’s “This Is It” earns its first Billboard chart ink with a No. 43 debut on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The song is Jackson’s landmark 50th career entry on the survey.

“This Is It” charges in after just two days of airplay in the chart’s tracking week. It’s Jackson’s first chart appearance since “One More Chance” wrapped a 19-week run on Feb. 28, 2004, after reaching No. 40.

Despite radio and fans abuzz about the ballad, Epic Records does not plan to release the song as a digital single, instead electing to offer it only on the Jackson hits package “This Is It,” due Oct. 27.

Without a digital component, the track’s potential to dent the Billboard Hot 100 will be compromised.

Still, Skip Dillard, operations manager of Inner City adult R&B WBLS (107.5 FM)/New York, echoes the majority of radio’s largely positive outlook about the song.

“It seems that everyone remains attached to all things Michael, so the reaction so far has been all-thumbs-up. We’ll see what our listeners say after we play it more.”

‘BOOM’ BOOM, POW: While easy listening music continues its reign atop the Billboard 200, the chart goes in the opposite direction at No. 2, where Kiss blasts in with its three-disc WalMart exclusive, “Sonic Boom.”

Charting on the list since April 20, 1974, the glam-rock pioneers earn their best chart position, topping the No. 3 peak of 1998′s “Psycho-Circus.”

“Sonic Boom” also explodes onto Rock Albums (and the billboard.biz-exclusive Hard Rock Albums chart) at the summit.

“US” OPEN: And you thought Backstreet Boys, Sade and Led Zeppelin didn’t have anything in common.

“This Is Us” debuts at No. 9 on the Billboard 200, making Backstreet Boys the first group to send its first seven charted albums to the top 10 since Sade, whose all seven career entries between 1985 and 2002 have made the top tier. (Sade is, in fact, a group, fronted by singer Sade Adu).

Prior to Sade, the last group to arrive on the Billboard 200 with at least seven top 10s was Led Zeppelin. The iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Famers strung together 10 top 10 albums from 1969 to 1983.

NO CLUNKER FOR CASH: Like Kiss, a fellow chart veteran, though very different in sound, claims a new career-best peak on the Billboard 200.

In a discography on the chart that dates to March 28, 1981, Rosanne Cash this week enjoys her highest rank to date, as “The List” launches at No. 22. Cash’s first entry, “Seven Year Ache,” represented her previous top showing, reaching No. 26.

The new set also starts on Country Albums at No. 5, her highest placement on the survey since 1985′s No. 1 “Rhythm and Romance.”

Cash recently explained to CMT.com that “The List” was inspired by an inventory of essential country songs given to her by her father, the late legend Johnny Cash, in 1973, when she was 18. “We were on the bus. I was on the road with dad, and we were just talking about songs. And I said I don’t know this one, I don’t know that one. Then I said I don’t know that one either.

“He grew alarmed. And he spent the rest of the afternoon making me a list. I remember going back and forth from the front of the bus to the back and seeing him still back there. He had his legal pad, and he was so pensive, thinking about what was gonna be next on the list.

“Then at the end, he said, ‘This is your education’.”

HEAD OF THE CLASS: With two more debuts upping its total to nine, the cast of Fox TV’s high school musical “Glee” passes Rascal Flatts for most charted titles on the Billboard Hot 100 this year among groups. Among all acts, the only artists with more entries in 2009 are Lil Wayne (19), Kanye West (13), Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana (11) and T-Pain (10).

The “Glee” ensemble bows with two medleys. Its mix of Bon Jovi‘s “It’s My Life” and Usher‘s “Confessions Part II” opens at No. 30, and its uptempo interweaving of Beyonce‘s “Halo” and Katrina and the Waves‘ “Walking on Sunshine” launches at No. 40.

Of the four compositions, “It’s My Life” is the only one to chart higher this week than it did in its original run. The “Glee” cast’s cover at No. 30 bests Bon Jovi’s No. 33 peak with the song in 2000.

CHART BEAT BITS: 2006 “Nashville Star” champion Chris Young becomes the late TV series’ first contestant to top Country Songs, as “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)” ascends 2-1. The cut represents the RCA label’s first view from the Country Songs perch since Sara Evans led for two weeks with “A Real Fine Place to Start” in September 2005. It’s label’s first topper by a solo male since Tracy Byrd‘s “Ten Rounds With Jose Cuervo” in October 2002 …

While a “Nashville Star” alumnus wins radio’s vote on Country Songs, the original “American Idol” queen makes an impressive move on Adult Pop Songs/Adult Top 40. Kelly Clarkson (pictured, above left) notches her seventh top 10 on the list, as “Already Gone” lifts 13-10. The advance pushes Clarkson past Avril Lavigne for most top 10s among women this decade. Goo Goo Dolls lead all artists with 10 top 10s since 2000 …

This week, 30 Seconds to Mars – fronted by actor, singer, songwriter and guitarist Jared Leto – rockets onto Alternative Songs at No. 20 and Rock Songs at No. 24 with “Kings and Queens.” The band, also featuring Jared’s brother Shannon, releases its third album, “This Is War,” Dec. 8 …

Who says he can’t get high, on the Billboard Hot 100, that is, to paraphrase John Mayer‘s new single. Look for “Who Says” to make a healthy bow on next week’s Hot 100, thanks to its strong digital sales since its arrival at retail Tuesday (Oct. 13). This week, the lead single from “Battle Studies,” due Nov. 17, bounds 17-8 on Triple A and 32-26 on Adult Pop Songs.
